open-vm-tools tcz extension for TinyCore 6.4

For those who would like to install open-vm-tools on the newest TinyCore release, please find enclosed below a link to a compiled .tcz extension. It is still necessary to download some dependencies which are listed in build-dependencies. In my particular case for open-vm-tools to install and run on Core 6.4 it was necessary to download following extensions:

  • squashfs-tools
    glib2-dev
    libtirpc-dev
    openssl-dev
    fuse

To learn how to build and install a TC-based VM with open-vm-tools on board, feel free to visit this link.

Yes, of course. Here’s a reference to the download page: https://cloudarchitectblog.wordpress.com/2015/11/11/yvm-download-page/

I did not compile a new version yet. I tried version 6.4 couple of months ago but with mixed results. It required at least 128 mb of ram which in my opinion was not something worth an effort since it is possible to have a full-fledged Ubuntu VM with VMware Tools inside packed within 192mb of ram (tried it, it works!).

I was making an attempt to create a version of yVM with the use of TC 7.0 but until now the results are not satisfactory. Is there any particular use case you would need a newer version of TC OS for?

No specific use case, I was just trying to keep up to date with the new version. Thanks for your effort, very much appreciated.
